Terms of Use
What using Historyspaces means
Reading Historyspaces means you accept these terms as the ground rules for browsing its articles on American history, food and candy origins and the stories behind words. They cover how you may use the material and what the operator does and does not promise. Questions can go to [email protected].
Interesting reading, not authority
Articles here are general historical information written for curiosity and learning. Historians disagree, records are incomplete and origin stories for foods and phrases are often disputed, so an article reflects the best evidence found when it was written. Please do not treat it as a substitute for primary sources, a professional researcher or legal advice, and check an original source before citing us in schoolwork or publication. Food history pages are not recipes or dietary guidance: old methods may be unsafe today, and anyone with food allergies should always read current labels and ask the maker.
Who owns the material
The writing, layout and original images belong to the operator or are used with permission. You may read, share links and quote a brief passage with clear credit and a link back. Copying complete articles, reposting them elsewhere or selling them requires written permission. Historic documents mentioned in articles may belong to their own archives.
Using the blog properly
Do not attempt to break into the site, flood it with automated requests, scrape it at scale or spread harmful code. Using Historyspaces to send spam or to break the law is also off limits. Access may be limited where that is needed to protect the blog and its readers.
What you send us
When you send a correction, a question or a suggestion for a story, you confirm you may share it. You allow us to read it and use the idea to improve Historyspaces, with no duty to reply or publish.
Ads, affiliate links and sources elsewhere
Historyspaces may show advertising and may include affiliate links, for instance to history books, cookware or sweets discussed in an article, which can earn the operator a small commission at no extra cost to you. A commission never decides what an article concludes about a story or a product. Library catalogs, museum pages, retailers and other sites a history blog points to sit outside our control, so before you rely on a date, buy a book or follow a recipe found there, check it yourself, because their owners alone answer for their content, prices and availability.
Warranties and liability
Historyspaces is provided in its current state, with no promise that it will always be reachable. As far as the law permits, the operator does not promise that articles are complete or error-free, and is not liable for loss resulting from use of the site or reliance on its content. Nothing here removes rights you have by law that cannot be waived, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes and severability
These terms and the blog may be adjusted as articles and features are added, and the revised terms apply from the moment they are posted. If part of these terms is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect.
